SuDS 250210 HBF letter
Abstract
The Association hosted a regional planning event on 25 February at Kingston Park Rugby Club to tackle the challenging issue of implementing sustainable drainage systems across the region. The Regional Spatial Strategy sets out policy to support the implementation of sustainable drainage systems and encourage the adoption of these measures. The event proved extremely successful, bringing together more than 70 delegates from across the North East England including local authority planners and engineers, elected members and developers. Speakers from the Environment Agency, Northumbrian Water and Newcastle City Council set the scene for the lively workshop sessions where the barriers to implementation and potential solutions were identified. A letter from the Home Builders Federation (HBF) suggesting a way forward by means of a regional implementation group is available for download below.
