Tender: North East England renewable and low-carbon energy capacity assessment
The UK Renewable Energy Strategy (RES) (2009) sets a target for 15 per cent of the UK's energy to come from renewable resources by 2020. The purpose of this project is to undertake a renewable and low-carbon energy assessment of North East England. This will inform the North East Strategy and local development frameworks, allowing regional and local targets to be set for renewable and low-carbon energy. The study will: - Undertake a detailed assessment of the potential for installed capacity by renewable and low carbon energy sources,
- Assess current energy supply and existing and future energy demands in North East England (heat and electricity only).
- Establish a robust framework of incremental capacities for renewable energy generation in North East England to 2020 and 2050.
- Recommend a range within which renewable and low carbon energy targets could be set, for the North East Strategy and local development frameworks.
