Research and evidence base

The North East Assembly (NEA) commissioned research to increase the understanding of housing and planning issues in North East England. 

Research included studies into:

• Gypsies and Traveller Sites
• Methods for Maximising Delivery of Affordable Housing
• Black and Minority Ethnic Communities' Housing Issues in the North East 
• North East Housing Investment Profile
• Regional Aspirations Study
• Analysis of Census migration data to assist in defining Housing Market Areas for Tyne and Wear
• North East Housing Investment Profile 2009.

During 2009/10 the Association of North East Councils (ANEC) commissioned a series of research reports to improve our understanding of housing issues affecting the region. The work was funded by the North East Housing Board with contributions from ONE and some of the region's local authorities. The research is also being used by local authorities and other housing stakeholders to improve policy and practice across the region. These are as follows:
