Why housing matters
Housing impacts on everyones lives. It has a major influence on health, environment, the economy and overall people's quality of life. Existing housing is in need of repair and renewal and some types of homes no longer fulfil our aspirations. North East England faces a complex set of housing issues, with areas that are in need of regeneration and market renewal alongside areas of soaring house prices with many households unable to participate in the housing market.
