North East Housing Board
The North East Assembly (NEA) worked to create quality places in North East England. The North East Housing Board was part of the NEA and prepared and updated the North East England Housing Strategy, which sets out the strategic housing priorities for North East England. The board also advised the Government on elements of housing investment in the region provided through the Single Housing Investment Pot. One of the board's key roles was to lobby for the interest of the North East which included responding to Government consultations. As well as the Housing Board, there were a number of groups that also fed into the process to help the board have a broad understanding of housing issues. These included the executive, the private sector advisory forum and the voluntary and community sector advisory forum. The membership of these groups was derived from a broad range of housing stakeholders. The Housing Board ceased in September 2010 due to the withdrawl of CLG funding by the Coalition Government.
